[23:14] <reverse> Chinese: Me not come to work, me sick.
[23:14] <reverse> Boss: When I'm sick, I have sex with my wife, try it.
[23:14] <reverse> [Later Chinese calls back]
[23:14] <reverse> Chinese: It worked. Me better. You got nice house!

I am taking suggestions for a new profession. Swen in itself is bad enough, but as more future worms adapt the idea of repeatedly mailing themselves to every address it finds, bandwidth usage is going to become an issue and email will be less and less useful. You thought spam was a problem? Wait 'till you get a load of this. The 14 users on miracle are receiving 300MB of Swen infected email every day, on top of the normal dose of legitimate mail, HTTP or SMB based worms banging against our interface, etc.

Imagine what will happen when 10 variants are in the wild. Or when 100 are.

Hundreds of copies of Swen has arrived in my inbox over the past two days. So I installed bmf and taught it to regard Swen as spam. Works great.

I am losing my mind. It appears I know people all over the world including, but not limited to, the US, Australia and the Dominican Republic. I am getting copies of Swen from all of these locations and more. The count so far is more than 50.

I created a profile with Advogato which is what open source developers are supposed to do these days, I guess. Or rather, was supposed to do back in 1998. The hipness has gone off Advogato, I think.

I have been busy mowing the lawn, cutting down some bushes, digging up roots, getting electric shocks, banging my head against a wall over Windows XP, entertaining folks, drinking beer with Allan, rushing off to Copenhagen a few times, fixing a few bugs in Dancer (4.17 might actually be ready for release this side of christmas!), upgrading OpenSSH, adding new users on miracle, decorating my office and more.

All of this while I am saving the world and being in the process of getting my drivers license.

This weekend I hope to squeeze in some more Dancer fixing and perhaps even upload some comparative pictures of the house the way it looked "before, during and after."

How time flies, and during all this time I have been neglecting you, my dear readers. Except you are not really 'dear' are you? 'Insane' perhaps, or 'bored'. But not dear.

If you happen to have been paying attention to my travelplan, you will know I was in Copenhagen last week (and I am going again this week). Like a flock of seagulls, individuals from BSD-DK gathered at a cafe for some beer (of which there was none; thanks Liebach!) and food.

In was her birthday last week so we took some time out for a quiet celebration. She is starting to not enjoy the reality of her age but I admit to being lost if you ask me if it seriously gets to her or not. I think most of it is part of the pattern that humans indulge in -- willingly or not.

Based on a few of our most recent conversations, I will have to say the song of the moment is If I Ever Lose My Faith in You.

I forget how good it makes me feels to write. I missed it these past months and didn't even know it. I miss going out to dinner with Mick and having a laugh. I knew that. There is still no timeframe on when I am going to Dublin again, but a visit is non-negotiable.
