What a long day. Out of bed at 5am, and home after midnight. I spent most of the day in meetings which made me feel very unfulfilled. Wrote a security "assurance document" to a customer to give that warm fuzzy feeling that mean absolutely nothing to people who know what they are doing.
I also had a quite distrubing experience. I went to use the mens room between two of the meetings, and was shocked to find notes stuck to the back of the stall door, meant for viewing as one sat down. The wording was very close to:

Well, paint me green and call me Susan! I spent the last handful of days implementing abstract database calls into ACID, and trying to do proper input validation and other nice things. Before I started, I sent email to the original author, pointing out the changes I was going to make, and I offered to submit my modifications for inclusion into the main distribution.
I heard nothing, and today I find that the author implemented the same abstract database layer and released a new version. He didn't mention to me that he was going to implement this within the timeframe I needed it, nor did he offer any sort of co-operation.
I have taken a look at the new version and will be doing a code audit, and fixing any security problems I find. Other than that my day sucked.
Today was exciting. I changed all my mailing list subscriptions from using my oceanfree.net address to using my area51.dk one. I will continue to use oceanfree for another while, so don't worry. You can still reach me via the old address. If I drop oceanfree entirely, I will let you know.
I am looking forward to getting my office assembled. My back doesn't like being made to work from a couch.
More coding on ACID. It isn't giving me problems, but it's tedious work. If you care to supply code, go right ahead. Today is a short entry. I want to leave with a quote:

I woke up at 7pm, and started working on ACID again. I later rented "Being John Malcovich" and "Joan of Arc". I am sorry to say I can't really recommend either of them. I also aquired two bags of M&Ms which were promptly consumed before they could melt.
I also managed to provide support for Uffe's website, and he told me none of you fucks did. (if you can't read Danish, you're excused).
Friday sucked. I spent most of it sleeping and later I started throwing up. Messed around a little with Dancer; Hester mentioned there is a bug in 4.15b6 so I'll have to talk to her. I also took a look at the old Triacle code. I would like to see the old lady go somewhere again.
Spent the rest of the night re-writing ACID because the folks at CERT do not practise what they preach. Saturday morning, this poor bastard got on my nerves. This is the 3rd time he joined the channel, and asked the same question.
